Understanding Body Acne: Causes and Types

You just finished an IPL Permanent Hair Removal appointment; what comes next?

After undergoing IPL Permanent Hair Removal Treatment, following proper post-treatment care and maintenance is essential to ensure optimal results and minimize potential side effects. Here are some things you can expect after your appointment and a list of helpful guidelines you can refer to until your next appointment!

What Happens After IPL Permanent Hair Removal?

Over the following weeks after your appointment, the targeted hairs in the treated area will begin to shed. You may notice that the treated hairs become looser and eventually fall out. This shedding process varies from person to person!

Resisting the temptation to pick, scratch, or irritate the treated area is also essential. Doing so may lead to scarring, hyperpigmentation, or other skin damage. Let the treated hair fall out naturally!

Post Treatment Care and Maintenance

Protect Your Skin From The Sun

Immediately after treatment, your skin may be more sensitive to sunlight. It is best to avoid direct sun exposure in the treated area for at least two weeks. If you need to go outside, apply sunscreen with a high SPF (30 or above) and wear protective clothing.

Keep The Treated Area Clean And Moisturised

Gently cleanse the treated area with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water. Avoid using harsh scrubs or exfoliants for at least one week to allow the skin to heal! Also, it is vital to keep hydrated by applying a gentle, non-irritating moisturizer. This can help soothe any temporary redness or dryness after the treatment!

Shaving In-Between Sessions

You may notice some regrowth while waiting for your next IPL Permanent Hair Removal appointment. While it may be tempting to get rid of the unwanted hair, it is recommended that you shave and aren’t plucking or waxing the area, as we want the follicles to remain intact in time for the next session!

Patience and Consistency Is Key

Remember that IPL Permanent Hair Removal typically requires multiple treatments to achieve desired results. Be patient, and follow the recommended treatment schedule provided by your estheticians for the best results!
