The intense pulsed light hair removal works through a flash-lamp. The primary principle behind IPL hair removal is “selective photothermolysis” (SPTL), the matching of a specific wavelength of light and pulse duration to obtain optimal effect on a targeted tissue with minimal effect on surrounding tissue.
This treatment produces light energy, which is then absorbed into the dark pigment of the hair (melanin of the hair) to ultimately its destruction by the heat generated (permanent destruction of the hair root).
What is the difference between Laser Hair Removal and IPL Hair Removal ?
Both IPL Hair Removal and Laser Hair Removal are similar in terms of efficiency, comfort and safety. You will probably don’t see any difference during the treatment.
In Singapore, only doctors can use Laser, it’s why sometimes the cost of Laser Hair Removal treatment is more expensive. Laser Hair Removal doesnt mean that the treatment will be automatically safer or with better results. In fact there are many kinds of Laser, of different generations, which are not always the most suitable for all the skin types. It’s very important to start the treatment by a consultation to assess the skin condition and chose an outlet / clinic which use well maintainted equipment with trained therapists.
At EstheClinic in Singapore we use only IPL for Permanent Hair Removal because we operate in a non medical environment. We have been using both Laser and IPL for 15 years in France. The new generation of IPL machines are safe, efficient and are a real alternative to Laser Hair Removal.
At EstheClinic, we only use medical grade devices which are manufactured in France by our partner BVA Technology.
