Curing skin problems with LED technology
Inspired by NASA research on photosynthesis, innovative Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology – also known as Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) – has recently entered the sphere of cosmetic medicine. Also called ‘skin fitness’ in the United States, LED has been successfully used to solve many skin problems, specifically with regards to anti-ageing treatments.
LED is a monochromatic light which boosts the activity of fibroblasts, encouraging collagen production and inhibiting collagenase and hyaluronidase, the enzymes responsible for the breakdown of collagen and hyaluronic acid.
LED technology can be used to treat a multitude of skin problems, due to variations in the colour of the light and wavelength. LED photomodulation, in particular, provides an anti-ageing effect, with re-plumping and skin tightening occurring as the skin becomes increasingly toned, firmer and brighter. LED also accelerates healing, aiding stretch mark removal and acne removal. Furthermore, LED is effective in the treatment of hair loss and helps stimulate hair regrowth.
Acne removal and acne scars removal
LED photomodulation treatment effectively and painlessly eradicates acne-causing bacteria and balances sebum production in our pores. Using intense, non-thermal blue and red light technology to quickly kill bacteria deep within the pores, this acne removal treatment will help to reduce frequent breakouts and inflammations. Along with effective acne removal and acne scar removal, you will also experience a smoother, more radiant visage.
Clinically proven to treat mild to moderate acne, LED photomodulation works by combining red and blue light. The blue light attacks the bacteria which causes the acne, while also regulating sebum production. The red light soothes inflammation and encourages cellular regeneration for a speedier healing process. This significant acne removal treatment results in the reduction of chronic inflammation, acne scars and unsightly lesions.
Oily skin also regains a healthier balance with LED technology, leaving the complexion purified and mattified, with a more even skin tone and texture. Acne-prone skin gradually appears more precise, smoother and calmer. A series of 8 to 15 sessions carried out weekly is recommended for optimum results.
Anti-ageing treatment
This painless and non-invasive LED photomodulation anti-ageing treatment uses cold light to stimulate collagen while simultaneously inhibiting the breakdown of existing collagen, helping to delay the signs of ageing.
The LED light waves can reach the mitochondria (the heart of skin cells) where they are converted into energy (ATP synthase) that can be assimilated directly by the cells. Fibroblasts get a much-needed boost, resulting in the production of collagen and elastin being stimulated. By activating the skin’s deep, regenerative mechanisms, this anti-ageing treatment instils the skin with renewed firmness and elasticity.
The numerously visible benefits of this anti-ageing treatment include:
- A more even skin tone
- Skin brightening
- Face firming
- Collagen stimulation
- Skin tightening
- Wrinkle removal
The LED photomodulation anti-ageing treatment can be used in combination with IPL skin rejuvenation and/or thermo-controlled radiofrequency to act on all the other signs of ageing (skin tightening, intensive wrinkle removal, pore tightening and hyperpigmentation reduction with skin whitening). A series of 6 to 15 sessions carried out weekly is recommended for optimum results.

On my first visit (29 Dec), the skin consultant, Tracy, conducted a thorough discovery of my skincare routine, lifestyle, and objectives before recommending treatments. I appreciated that she was patient, listened carefully, and respected what I was (and wasn’t) willing to do.
My therapist, Shiny, was excellent—gentle, clear in her explanations, and consistently attentive without being overbearing. While they did introduce treatment packages at the end of the session, there was no pressure to sign up immediately, which I appreciated. I didn’t see instant results that day, but I noticed visible improvement about a week later while following their recommended routine.
I returned on 10 Jan for my second session with Shiny, and her service was just as professional and consistent. I decided to sign up for a package then. Although they asked me to leave a Google review in exchange for a $100 voucher, I chose to wait because I wanted more experience before giving feedback.
On my third visit (24 Jan), Shiny was unavailable and I was assigned a different therapist. While I generally prefer consistency with the same therapist, I understand scheduling constraints.
Overall, my experience has been very positive so far—the service quality is high, and I do see results from the treatments. I’m going for my fourth visit and will update if anything changes.
